Decided to go fishing with my wife this afternoon. Stopped at the local farm store to buy bait. While I was in the store, a lady started loading about 1200 lbs of horse feed into a 4 door Hyundai in the stall to the right of my boat trailer, and opened her drivers door against my trailer in front of the fender.

When I started to pull out, I scraped a clearance light off the trailer, and wiped out the drivers door on the rice burner.

Poor lady was all upset. I just called the cops and had them come over and document it. Cop asked me how my day was going. I said "horO&^%*t".Called my insurance company, reported the incident, and then handed the phone to her to make arrangements to get her car repaired. By the time I forced her car door closed for her and tied it to the door posts so she could get her horse food home, she was all smiles and OK

First insurance claim I've filed in 30 years.

Serves her right for not paying attention. Sucks about the clearance light :)

Just visited with the insurance company. Because the door was open against my trailer when I moved it, it was fully my fault.

Just another example of protecting idiots from themselves.

Her car got fixed. It's all good.:D

What do you want to bet that if that was a police car she rested her door against it would have been 100% her fault.

Have to agree with this one :)

My teenager got into a situation where a police car was parked beside the road, and suddenly pulled a from the shoulder U turn in front of him. He T-boned it right in the driver's door. He thought he was going to get a new car out of it. I told him he would be lucky if he escaped without jail time.

The police report didn't resemble what actually happened at all. According to it, the officer turned on all her lights, waited 2 1/2 minutes, then carefully executed a U turn, only to be hit by a speeder from out of nowhere. (I exaggerated slightly, but not much.)

Anyway, back to the trailer. As I was installing a brand new five dollar plastic clearance lamp, I discovered that the trailer was wired with scotchlock and pinch crimp connectors, and besides that the 20 year old wiring was getting brittle. Looks like a whole new trailer harness is needed. I might as well do it right and go LED.

What was that about a boat is a hole in the water..........?
