Yea it?s not a Startcraft but I thought my fellow brothers would get a kick out of this boat. I hauled this tin can home but it?s not mine it?s my uncles. He has no truck yet. Guess I?ll be getting around to fixing my boat up now as I can fish out of this one anytime the weather permits. I?m thinking about converting my I/O to an outboard. Looks like I could take some measurements and build something for my Starchief.

Another reason that I posted these pictures is because it?s getting a little skinny on the photos around here. Perhaps the snow and the hard water have something to do with it. Nice weather around here. Look no snow:D

Re: Look what this cat dragged home

GLG My boat dealer sells or sold the Duckworth boats. Hell of a boat. Mfg in Lewiston Idaho Clarkston Wa area just the Snake river between the towns. Boats were built org for river running and now Duckworth has a salt water. covered cabin this year. They don't make a better boat anywhere except Weldcraft which is made in the same factory. Visited there once two years ago. My brother in law is the Hatchery Manager for Idaho Fish and Wildlife. Retires this April 1st after 34 years. I delivered a new Duckworth to Flathead Lake in Montana 5 years ago for Master Marine in Mt vernon and brought a 21 ft lund back as a trade it. Good reference as to the Bracket Idea. Most of the Aluminum boat dealers at the Boat show in Seattle last week had new boats with motor brackets as well as there standard. Most guides prefer the bracket O/B or a inboard and a jet pump. You will have fun with that. . I think you will see more big Aluminum boats ( for working boats ) then ever . They are the thing and as we all know they do not wear out. My friend three blocks away has a 19 Duckworth with a Americiasn Jet that he has only 5 hours on it in two years. Says its to big so will prob. get a smaller Outboard. He has more money then good sense ,he traded a 6 hour weldcraft to get the Duckworth. Be nice but things we build have a value you can't find in buying new. Just bought a new color F/F GPS global maping for the big Boat. Ed Pugetsound

That sure is a sweet ride. You'll swear the gas gauge is broke due to lack of showing it's using any fuel.
I tore a Yamaha 115 down to the oil pump in the sump. That's a lot of parts and pieces. All due to a minor oil restriction at the oil pick up filter that would occasionally set off an alarm. Only engine of that type that I ever saw that happen to. Took a week of testing, trial and error with conferring with Yamaha before it was decided that the tiny filter was possibly the culprit. Fixed the problem.

You'll have many years of enjoyment out of that rig.

It?s regular sunbrella for canvas but the poles are aluminum square tubing. I could swing off them tubes. It?s a nice boat to say the least. Bought used with only 25 hours on the main motor. We have some rigging to do before we can get it out fishing. So far that bracket on the front has been removed and we need to patch the holes. Scotty downriggers will be mounted in the back It also needs some new brackets for the tie bar as the way it?s setup is just not right. Rod holders and what not to set up for salt water salmon fishing. We have it parked next to my buddy?s 18-ft holiday and I can?t get over how wide this thing is compared to the Starcraft. It must be over a foot wider. I look forward to working on this thing with my Uncle. Nothing better than messing around with boats. Ed after checking out a lot of boats I was impressed by the welds that are on this boat. I use to inspect welds many years ago and I can tell craftsmanship when I see it.

Bob do you have any advice on how to prevent this issue. I have heard that this can happen but I have not heard if there is a way to prevent it.

Another thing about a Duckworth. The deck is self bailing which would be nice to incorperate in a rebuilt Starcraft. Was what you removed?, the electric motor mount bracket or the bow roller for the Anchor. Be fun to work on to set it up ,nice to work on a Quality Boat. Did you get that across the Border or in the Vancouver area? About 42 big ones new.

Re: Look what this cat dragged home

Thanks for the compliments I?ll pass them on to my Uncle.
Yea it is a sweet looking boat.
The electric trolling motor and bracket on the front are now gone.
It?s something we just don?t use up here. Left it with the PO he will try to sell.
This boat came from the US don?t know much about the history except it was only used by a little old lady on Sundays to go to church. Ed your right about the price. Got a quote for a new one and it was north of 45 rigged up for fishing. The self-bailing is in the front only on this model. The back deck is conventional like our boats. Tim, you grab the beer and we will talk. My Uncle said I could use the boat anytime. I said May till September?
Yea right. Went out today to price out all them little things you need on a boat. So far the quote is more than what I paid for my boat. Them new HP Scotty?s are pricey but they will lift a 15-pound ball from depth in a hurry. I?m itching to rig this puppy up and dump it in the chuck so if you don?t hear from me, you guys know what I?m doing.:D

I like this boat but the northriver seahawk is my dream boat if I ever win the lottery.
We all seem to drive starcraft because of $$, but we gota thank all the those who bought these starcrafts new so we could have a boat now.
I could not afford a $20-40K boat

Re: Look what this cat dragged home

I would love to have a nice new boat, wife picked one out at the boat show. 28 ft enclosed cabin with potty and everything, twin 225 yammies and all sorts of goodies. Then I saw what the payments would be, $1100 a month and I am not sure how many months. The boat was $149,000 for the way it sat. I bout choked when I saw what she was wanting to get. Got to give to the wife though, she can pick a good fishing boat that is for sure. I think that I will keep her around for a while :D. She is a sweet one that lets me get all kinds of stuff.

Re: Look what this cat dragged home

Kelly, my wife and I were just at a boat show as well. I was showing her a Bayliner 245 cabin cruiser because someday I'd like to own a boat like that. She thought it was nice but understandably balked at the $69k price tag. I told her you can get a nice used one for $15k. She said no way but that dealer had a board with all their used boats listed on it and sure enough there was a very similar '01 for $16.5k or something. New boats (and RVs) gotta be like the worst thing to buy new.
