Ok, so those of you who have been following my resto thread may know that I'm already thinking of boat #2. I want a smaller aluminum - preferably a 16' center console, for early season estuary fishing. I was sitting at a breachway in my neighborhood - my buddy and I are rapping about this and that - and a 16' aluminum center console motors past. I tell him my idea and he says "if you're looking for a small tin boat - go over to ~anonymous~ point. One just washed up today". I pop the 4runner in gear, and off we go.
It's a Lone Star Big Fisherman. I knew nothing of these boats until tonight. It looks pretty cool. Distressed, but has a real classic look to it. There is roofing cement on the outside seams. (sigh) - there are ways to fix leaks. That ain't one of them. BUT the boat was dry. It's been breezy - probably someone's tender that broke lose from across the bay. We dragged the boat up past the high water line and left it. Can you imagine trying to register that? (at the registration counter) "uh... I found it?"
The real kicker here is that it was last registered in my home state, Vermont, in 2004. Hey Bob_VT, does this look familiar?
