Hello everyone Im lookin for my first pontoon boat and found a 2007 Crest II 2070 with a 90 hp Honda motor with 80 hrs. They are asking 16900 for the boat w/o the trailer which I need and the boat is sitting on. Being that Im new to this I have no idea how much to offer as this is at the high end of what I want to spend and from other comparable boats this seems high. I did see the boat in person and the furniture is really clean except the carpet. Does anyone think thats too high a price or is it really worth that much? I originally was lookin at some smaller HP boats but just about everyone has recommended 75 or higher for boats around this size. Thanks in advance.

Welcome JC. I think the price, without seeing it of course, is about 2-3 grand too high. Especially since the trailer is not included. I would think that somewhere in the neighborhood of 15, with the trailer, would be more in line. I don't know how pricing in the NY area is, but I'm speaking from a midwest perspective. I'm sure your location commands a higher price though..

I'm not that far from Rick & i agree about the price being high- This time of year its more of a buyers market & i'd keep looking.

I had thought about 15k myself but Im not confident they'll go that low. It really is almost exactly what Im lookin for but I really dont want to go over 15 at this point. I'm hoping with winter coming they might be flexible.

Worse that will happen is they say no, they may make a counter offer.
If no trailer;aren't they scarce as hens teeth unless you can do new.

If you want to buy it, make them an offer. You need to start somewhere.

Make your offer stick! In other words, say things like this:

1 - "$Xk is really our budget and I really can't go any higher."

2 - "I really need a trailer and yours is not for sale. While I can always buy one, not buying as a package deal is a real hassle for me." (Frankly, if it is that easy to find one, let the seller get a new one).

3 - "I will pay cash.....100 dollar bills."

good luck
