looking for some opinions on this engine as a possible replacement to my 93 3.0. I know it is a lot older than my 93, but it is basically the same engine.

some back ground from the owner

The owner has owned it for 20 years, said it started to run hot, then shut the engine down for a bit, and then restarted it, and it was fine. The engine in pretty much original, and the manifold and riser are original.
I have looked at the boat on Tuesday, but not for long because of time restraints on my end.

I am returning on Saturday afternoon to actually do a compression test, and a cold start up, the owner said he will not pre start the engine, so appreciate that
I would like to know if there is any thing else that i could possibly check on this engine, that would allow me to make a wise decision to purchase or not

I have been going over the overheating issue in my head , and , however I don't think I will have the time for proper diagnosis, unless I purchase it. The owner doesn't know much about the mechanics of this engine, and really don't know what is causing the issue

I did take some pics of the engine, which is still in the boat.
The entire boat, motor and trailer is priced at $ 799.00 but he is nego. The owner is vary nice and has answered all my questions
