Hi,
I just looked at a 1990 215 Eclipse bowrider that is for sale. The boat looks to be in great shape with only 250 hours on the 5.7L motor. I have always had boats with outboard and my current Glastron has a 125hp Merc that gets pretty good mileage. Does anyone have any experience with this model boat? Specifically regarding gas mileage. I don't plan to do a lot of skiing with it, mostly cruising from town to town on the St. Lawrence River. The boat seems like it has plenty of room and is well laid out.
They are asking $6500 but I think I can get it for $6,000. Does that seem like a fair price? The boat seems really solid and does not appear to be stored outside.
Thanks,
Tom

I had a 1991 216XL Eclipse cuddy cabin until this spring. Mine had the 7.4l big block though.
I averaged 2.3mpg over the entire 4 years I owned her. I would get as high as 3mpg if I was easy on the throttle. A lot less if I really opened her up.

With the 5.7l and a little less weight, I would expect you to get between 2.5-3mpg for a normal day out. (Mix of no-wake zones and cruising speed runs.)

For price, $6k doesn't sound bad.

I just sold mine with a full camper enclosure, the big block, trim tabs & trailer for $7k. And that was to a good friend.
