Hi All,

I had two boats so far, both outboards and had good times.

I am not looking at getting a newer I/O boat and found a 2006 Maxum 1800SR3 wi some nice options, however it does have the base 3.0 motor. It also has an extended warranty plan till 2013 and only 95 hours.

I am looking for some advice on the boat in relation to its power and capablity. Does anyone ski with this set up?

Also, what about pricing. With the economy tanking, it looks like deals are to be had. At this point, NADA and other guides don't seem to be in line anymore.

This boat, with Galv. Trailer...fresh water use and like I said, a few nice options like the stainless pop up cleats, carpets, bimini, bow and cockpit covers and an extended swim platform (this may be standard) for 12K.

What do you think? I thought about offering 10K, however I think the dealer would hold out as they just traded this.

Thanks

Mike

i have a 18' 95 rinker with a 3.0 and i do fine pulling skiers/knee boarders. i dont know much about pricing on the model your looking at but im sure that the newer 3.0's have a little more power than the one i have and if so you should be fine pulling skiers. i did have a problem with it when i swapped my 17p prop to a 21p prop, she was a real dog coming out of the hole. either way i'm all for the 3.0, its fuel efficient and has decent tq. with the right blade.
