Have been doing research on some different makes we are interested in for our first boat. Looking for a cruiser, Skiier, some Wakeboarding, and Tubing. Have been hearing/reading good things about Four Winns and saw these adds and they has sparked my curiosity/interest.

I have not looked at these boats in person so I would of course have to take the time to do that before making a decision, however was hoping to get actual users expertise on these before calling or going to look. Those of you who know what your talking about, everything from problems or known issues with model year, engine, seating layout, to the price of the boat. I am guessing in today's market they may come down a bit on these prices, but then again maybe not! At this price range I could write a check opposed to having to finance a portion of a more expensive boat.

Not a ton of info on this one, would have to call for engine info, etc.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Looking at a Four Winns....

FYI, the boat in the second link that you posted has been listed since sometime in March, (or earlier)........someone maybe willing to deal! I bought a 2003 180 Freedom, 4.3 liter, sunsport seating, and swim platform. I really like the way that the seats were layed out and the platform is nice for swimming. After got it, it was noticeable that the quality was above par. Comparing the craftsmanship to my friends rinker and his neighbors bayliner definately proved it to me. I paid 15000 for mine and feel that I got a fair deal, due to the condition for the boat.

Re: Looking at a Four Winns....

Stay away from Four Winns and Volvo Engines. I bought a new 2008 Horizon 180 and every other time I use it, something breaks. Radio, speakers, top, engine cover, trim switch. Small stuff at first, but now impeller goes out and runs hot, power steering pump fails and leaks everywhere, and now throttle cable just snaps in the middle of the lake. As I was holding throttle open manually, noticed bolts just vibrating out of engine. Four Winns name came from a contest, if you can use it 4 times (and you can't) without something breaking, you must win something. If you like being stranded in the water, this is the boat for you. Yea it is under warranty, but it don't help you when you are paddling and have to take it back all the time. If you must get one, see about having ores installed on each side and keep a strong rope on board.
