Hi All,
First, I gain allot of usefull info form this forum, thanks to all! Last year I purchased a fishing boat and this site helped me out then, hoping it for the same.
Now I am looking at buying an older boat for the local water...mostly ski/cruise. I have come accross several and have some posts up on these, this post is on a boat I looked at today, a Sunbird Corsair 170 with an Evinrude 115.
All looks good on this one, fair price, good overall condition, floors seem solid. I am going to get an expert opinion on the mechanicals from a service center, however have a few questions:
1. The owner has let the boat sit for 3 years. It was covered with a big tarp, however not 100% tight. The ski storage well was wet is this section wood, or more like a plastic tub?
2. Where he had it sitting, it was leaning to its port side, since some water was getting in, do you think it was able to drain properly from the stern. It had good bow elevation, however I was concerned that the water might have sat in the corner and not completely drained when it did get wet.
3. The scag was chipped up pretty good, maybe a few sections the size of a half dollar removed. He hit some rocks in a river, said it did not affect the performance after he put a new prop on. Any thouhgts on this, would you bother having it repaired?
Thats all for this boat, like I said, seems tight, but I cant see below the floors and wondering about how it was listing to port for so long.
Thanks for any advice you have on this.
