Hello I am new to the forum and boats. I have always wanted one but know very little about them. The boat I am looking to buy is a 1988 Glastron 20ft Cuddy. The owner says it has a 4.0 4cyl inboard/outboard engine, and a all fiberglass hull. Basically I am wondering if Glastron are good boats and if anyone has heard of any problems with these boats? Also is there anything inparticular I should look for when I go look at it? Thanks for all your help.

Hi,
First Glastrons are very good boats if maintained well, the down side for the 88 age can be rot.
Bring a hammer and screwdriver and poke, knock and look for dull sounding week spots. If the transom or floor is bad be prepared for replacing it.
There is no 4.0L 4 cyl engine used in glastrons. What brand o/d is it?
Got some pix
Good luck, Frank

I have a 1977 17ft Bowrider with 140 Johnson and the previous owner replaced the floor and it is sound. But the Glastrons I was told can hold water because of the design of the boat due to the support boards called I believe bulkhead, that run between the stringers. Just do as the previous guy said inspect, inspect, inspect! I love mine and will try to keep it in water ready shape. Lots of room. Good luck and post pic if you get a chance.
