When you say "move from spot to spot", just how far are you moving. If you are talking a couple hundred feet or 50 - 100 yards or so that's one thing. If you are talking greater distances, start the big motor. 160 pound electric motors draw a bunch of current and unless you have realllllllly big batteries, you won't move very far, very often before you have dead batteries. If you expect to save gas using this rig, figure the cost of the motor, two large batteries, a large two bank on-board charger and you will quickly figure out that you can buy a lot of gas for what that setup costs. This is a trolling motor, not a prime mover. You use the gas engine to get where you want to fish. Then use the troller to troll. A cheaper alternative and far less weight involved would be to add a small four stroke kicker.
