I got one. it's a long leg (25"). Sitting in the garage gathering dust. I thought something was wrong with my old one because it wouldn't go into reverse. So I got a used one off ebay from a guy who was selling bunches of lower units at the time. Allegedly some mom & pop marina closed up shop and he bought all their parts. He said it was tagged and inventoried as a known good unit. But I never tested it. It turned out my old gearcase was fine. The local mercury dealer's mechanic didn't screw the shift linkage rod in when servicing the impeller. Part of me wonders if was an accident, a simple case of shoddy workmanship, or an intentional effort to make me want a new mercury engine.
