Can anyone recommend a good boat brand that would take a 25hp long shaft which will be used in salt water flats and costal fishing?

There's more than just "Brand" to look for. Figure out what "Style" or "Type" of boat you want and then look into the manufacturers of that type of boat.

For many years I had a 14 foot aluminum SeaNymph that I customized for shallow water fishing in S. Florida. It pushed along nicely with a 25 Evinrude. My flat bottomed skiff would go into skinnier water but the SeaNymph was a more sea worthy, all-purpose boat that could still get me to the flats.

Ohmybad, A 14 footer is about the most boat that may have sufficient power with a 25 HP. If you stay in the bay, you should be OK with an aluminum semi-vee or a small center console. If you want to go into the ocean, you need to decide what is the most dangerous part of your trip, Here in NJ, the worst part is the Barnegat Inlet. You can find a day when the ocean is flat and suitable for your boat, but the inlet can be very rough, even on that calm day, especially if the wind blows east and the tide moves west.

I work with a guy that bought an old Lund aluminum 15 foot runabout (1980 VRF-15) and stripped the foredeck and seats out of it. It's a unique aluminum boat in that it does not use bench seats to strengthen the hull. It's now just an open boat with a flat marine plywood deck and lots of freeboard. He had a canvas dodger made for the bow. He powers it with a 25 HP merc and uses it on the Atlantic ocean and tidal inlets on the NH, ME and MA coasts all the time. It's very neat setup for fishing and waterfowl hunting.

you are in an area that has a great used boat market. when we want something. your area is one of the 1st places we look. Snow birds come to Fl, buy a boat use it a year or 2 and then don't want it anymore, or they can't use it anymore.

That Lund is rather heavy for a 25 horse. Mine weighs about 800 without motor. Also, it has a high freeboard, and a deeper draft than many flats boats, but it is real useful in rougher water. Mine is undergoing a complete restoration, and therefore hasn't seen water since we've owned it, but it will soon.
