found 3 boats i'm interested in. a 1988 wellcraft aruba 23' (http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/4996841184.html). supposed to look at it later today he said he would take us out in it tonight. also a 1997 maxum 2300sc (http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/5030531729.html). and the third is a 1988 Sea Ray sorrento 25' (http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/boa/4999323775.html). this one has no trailer so i would have to purchase that separately.
i plan to dock it at the local marina and take it out a few hours a week just cruising. the kids may do a little tubing. i also will likely take it to the local lakes a couple of times a year.

thoughts on these 3 boats?

thanks!

I like the all fiberglass deck on the Maxum. What caused the engine/outdrive rebuild?

just went out on the Wellcraft. it has an 8 person 1200lb capacity. there was 5 of us on it and we were about 1100lbs. it took quite awhile to get on plane. they even had 2 of the guys go to the front of the cuddy. when it finally did plane we were hitting about 32MPH at WOT. i drove for awhile and at 3500 RPM we were going 30 MPH. he did say he just put a new prop on it. i think it was a 19 pitch. he said we needed a 15 or 17 with all of us on it. the boat was solid. no hour meter on it so we don't know anything about that. motor was quiet and smooth. my biggest issue was the seating configuration. it had a captains chair with a back to back seat beside it and the row across the back that can seat about 3. but it was tight. hard to move around each other. it was also a little faded and he said they were going to buff it out this week and they had bottom paint for it that they were going to paint it with. said it had copper or something in that helped keep it clean.

the guy called back about the maxum as we were driving down there so going to try to look at that one tomorrow
