Looking for a boat...

So I'm in the market for an inexpensive, used 14 - 16 foot long fiberglass or aluminum open skiff. I don't want a center console or anything but a couple bench seats. Any suggestions?

I live in Virginia and im looking for something for lakes, rivers, and the occasional skinny-water trip in saltwater.

Welcome to iboats
A 14 ft "tinny" with a 9.9hp is a good starting point for you.
Having said that how many people are you going to be taking boating ???

I would get a little larger motor. Other than that, it is a good choice.

Well, here in South-Eastern Virginia, the max horsepower you can have in most all of the lakes is 10hp.

Carolina Skiff J series. Look arond; there's a reason they are popular around here.

Or for aluminum, Lowe 14' wide body.

Focus on the motor. How about a 25 and a trolling motor for the lakes? You'll want more horses for the salt water around here.

I was going with the "inexpensive" statement. 14ft "tinnies" with 9.9hp on them are a good and inexpensive buy around here. Bigger motor = more $$$ for the posted usage I feel it would be fine.
Just my 2 cents though.

A little tinny like that you can cartop. A 9.9 HP motor is easy to take off and on. No matter what you buy later on, you'll never have any more fun than you will in a boat like that. You will probably have it forever, just get a bigger boat later if you feel the need.

I'm avoiding Carolina Skiffs because of their flat-bottom design. I want a v-hull fiberglass of aluminum skiff. And I dont want to have to buy 2 engines so im not going bigger than a 9.9, which is plenty for a little skiff with one person in it in the Lynnhaven River.
