Thanks to Direct-TV increasing their rates again, I'm going back to my C-Band dish.
I can get the same channels for HALF the cost.

I don't watch enough TV to warrant the $40 a month that DirecTV wants.

Anyhow...
I have an old Radio Shack 9.5' dish that has a worm-gear/screw type of dish mover. It still works fairly well, but one of the gears (a half-moon type... dunno it's name) is beginning to show wear, and Lord knows if there is any new ones available. I've asked Radio Shack, but they haven't returned my mail.

I would like to convert the dish to utilize today's standard piston type actuators, but I don't want to shell out the bucks for a new one until I know I can make it work.

Does anyone have an old actuator they don't want?
The standard is 18" for a dish up to 10", so I can start there.

If one of you has an old non-working one laying around, or even a reasonably priced working one (new ones are $40 on EBay) LET'S TALK!

homerr999@msn.com

OOPS: Sorry admins... If this qualifies as a 'Non-boating technical question"... I keep forgetting about that forum.

Thanks,

H.
