Re: Looking for a great night fishing light( drop in water type)
I don't know, but here's my #.02
I had a couple of the $20-30 florescent lights that worked...OK, but the power supply would pop the power transistor, fixable, but not on the water. The long (24"") lights were not any brighter than the short (12"?) lights as they used the same power supply. I ran 3-4 of them at the same time to get enough light in the water. After most of the dying on one trip, I ditched them. HydroGrow lights looked interesting, but they were $200+ at the time and I wasn't going spend that.
I ended up making a couple of LED lights of my own, white, not green though. Bought a bunch of MR16 12V LED lights for $3/each, sealed them up with 3M5200 and mounted them into an aluminum box with a foam ring to float it on the water. One has 5 lights, the other 12. The 12 light box is really bright as we could clearly see the shore 1/4 mile away. It draws 4 amps, which is a LOT for LED lighting.
Whatever you decide on, I would be cautious on the light output, make sure it's bright and not a dim light, or a light with low output. I saw one site with an $80 green 12" LED light that said 1/2 amp draw,,,, didn't impress me too much....
