I have a 1998 19' Bayliner Bowrider with a 3.0L 135HP Mercuriser with Alpha One Drive. I'm considering going from the Merc Black Max 21P aluminum I have now to a Solas 4BLD SS 19P to get more out of the hole for skiing and tubeing. I'm getting about 42MPH @ 4600 rpm now on smooth water, a moderate load, and a tail wind. I'm not too concerned about loosing speed on the top end as long as I gain more out of the hole. Any thoughts on this?

Re: Looking for a new 4 Bld Prop

i put a 4 blade stilletto on a I/O,one of the Bay pro ll series, worked out above my expectation's. It produced a much smoother feel from the boat and motor combo, a noticalbe midrange punch, but as to hole shot i couldnt see any great gains there. However i came from a 19 p blade on a 4.3 (little under proped) and that combo could pull like a barge.

Ive had the same 20p 4blade on a 3.0l in a 17' boat, just a tad to much for it, id bet a 18 would probably be pretty close.

I can only speak to the final results, pitch is best left to the pro's. Smoother, more midrange power, ohh lifted the boat higher out of the water, A 5mph gain over a 19p 3blade (going to a 21p 3blade provided one more mph gain) That was the Stilletto though, there prop's really lift the boat up and out of the water.
