the motor that i have on right now is a 1970 evinrude 33 hp ski twin which gets this bad boy up to about 35km/h with a tail wind and calm waters. i usually just have me and my dog in the boat which i weight about 205lbs and my dog another 65. with my gear which is id say 40 pounds plus 2 batteries, one for the bow mounted trolling motor and one for my engine. id say all in im close to700 to 750 pounds with motor.

the boats rated for 44hp back in 1960 so im not sure what that would be now a days. ive got a couple quotes in canuck dollars and it appears to be around 4 grand for merc 20hp and 5 grand for merc 25hp, 5500 for merc 30 hp.
what would you guys recommend?

The 33 HP is just an excellent / simple motor.----You will want the 30 hp to replace it.-----I believe the new 30 HP will be much heavier than the light weight 33 Evinrude.
