I have a 1994 225 evinrude, after setting a day or more it loads up with oil so bad will hardly start. After starting it smokes pretty bad for a couple of minutes then clears itself out. Was told the check valve in the VRO was bad letting oil leak in. Any opinions.

Re: Looking for a new VRO pump

Check valve, oil piston seal or possibly a crack in the pump housing can cause those symptoms.

A replacment pump for that motor is p/n 5004558. Also, p/n 5004559 will work if the first number isn't available.

-John
