Just bought myself a boat a few weeks ago, 09 Rinker MTX 210, using it for recreational purposes but my dad came down last weekend and we took it fishing. It did the job but was inconvienent when trying to maneuver in and out of coves. He said he wouldn't mind getting a small fishing boat for around 2k and leaving it at my house on the lake. He would like something big enough to get outside of my cove if we wanted. Found this boat below on craigs, looks pretty nice and for a good price(i think). Never heard of the brand. Those of you that fish, what do you think?

looks pretty good; you really don't have to worry about brand for a boat like that and that age. I'd look for something you can just leave parked outdoors; no carpet and uphostelry.

Looks like a nice little boat. Most folks don't have a very high opinion of Force outboards for reasons ranging from difficulty finding parts to perceived dependability issues. I've never owned a Force, so I can't speak to the validity of that opinion, but if nothing else it will impact resale value. I think before I pulled the trigger I'd call around to marine shops and ask about parts and service availability. Broken motor that can't be fixed = time for a new motor, which could easily exceed the cost of the entire rig. Just something to consider. Happy hunting.

I think the price is a little on the steep side for a tinny with a Force (and I've owned one without problems). Tinny's for the most part don't wear out, or loose any durability over time, so even an older one would be just as good. As an example, I just bought a 13' 1978 Sears for $200, but you can get a 14-16' with a motor for about $1000-$1500 if you shop around. For $2500 you could get these -

Beefer, I agree the price is steep, but I looked through several pages of boats on Tulsa CL and that seems to be the trend. Quite a few would be sellers who are delusional about what they have and what it's worth, which is not unique to Tulsa by any means, but it did jump out at me. Trim, you might consider broadening your search. If you found something compelling in my neck of the woods I'd be happy to take a peek at it for you. We have lots of boats in central Arkansas that would meet your dad's needs nicely.

Yeah, I was wondering what the boat market in Tulsa OK would be like. This is a situation where a weekend boat buying trip may be a great idea.

Thanks guys. If he likes that boat might try to negotiate it down some for a more fair price.

Incoop, I'll keep you in mind. We play golf in Northwest Arkansas some, which I know isnt Central but might have to take a little longer trip if something does show up in your area.

That looks like a pretty good deal. I'll definitely show it to my dad. I appreciate you keeping me in mind. I had actually forgot about this thread until you revived it lol.

Looks like a good rig. It will be gone fast. Appears to be an old motor but that wouldn't worry me.
