I have an '82 baja bowrider 17 ft. I'm replacing rear half of 3/4" flooring. Stringers are good. I have small and tight budget. I know I should use marine grade plywood, but I have decided to use pt plywood. What kind of resin should I use to coat the sides of plywood, and what kind of fabric tape or mat do I need to use? I also noticed that where the edges of plywood met the hull there was, what appeared to be a Bondo like filler in the seams. Is that exactly what it is? Any help is much appreciated.

1st pressure treated plywood has no place in a boat. marine or exterior grade completely sealed. never use bondo, you should mix peanut butter, as a filler.

If you have not already bought the PT ply.. then you can just buy exterior grade Ply..

IF you have already bought the ply it needs to be stored in a heated area for about a month so it it completly dry before you use it. utilty lights and fan to move the air will speed it up a little but only by a week if that.

RESIN.. you can use poly or epoxy

if poly you will need matt for the underneath and top of the deck.
if epoxy you will only need cloth.

you want 1 - 2 oz on the underneath and a minimum of 8 oz on the top.

hull to deck area..
Filll the gap with thickened poly or epoxy (search peanut butter) or you can use PL 5000. No Bondo.. it doesnt like water.

Then you will want to tab this area with a heavy cloth. 1708 biax is very popular.. i believe its 24 oz.

Thanks for the replies. I havn't yet purchased anything, and I wasn't aware plain exterior plywood could squeek me by. I only plan on keeping the boat for a few years max, so thats why i'm cutting some corners. Thanks again.

i used a 3/4" 5ply geogia pacific material called dryply. find it at lowes its a tounge and groove subfloor product, cheaper than 1/2" treated and stronger...also it carries a limited lifetime warranty. glued with pl400 and nailed with ringshank 2 3/8" nails theres also another product you can find at a "real" lumber yard such as 84 or brown and graves called advantac. 3/4" but its heavy !!!!
