Heres scoop on 92 120 looper with miss problem. did test on timer base or sensor coil as book calls it. Green wire was not showing .5 voltage--zip--zero-- went to ohm test everything checked good -- went back to voltage test green wire showed voltage. Hooked everything back up--motor ran on all four again--boat ramp getting crowded, had to move on. Both timer bases will do same thing on same wire. Can the magnet on the hub of the flywheel have anything like occur or is it all all or nothing when they get weak?

Heres scratching my head again

Re: Looking for Clanton 0r Almost Retired Again

Im not sure about the flywheel, will try to look at one today or tomorrow, real busy with house.
I would think if it was the flywheel it would show up on both sets of sensors, the start sensor and the run sensors. I have seen the V6 sensors check good when cold, then when warmed up, just from cranking engine for other test, sensor would quit. I would insure I have good connections with test leads, and sensors wires were not rubbing flywheel. Check about 10 times about 30 seconds between test, and if it missed 1 time replace the timer. You can wiggle the wires when testing.

The motor probley is firing on all 4 at startup, when it is running on the start sensor, when it warms up to operating temp, it shifts to run sensors , which is different set of sensors, and the green wire that has no/low output is a run sensor.

I think I follow you. I found more infomation in manual along these lines. If the wires check out on ohms test, could timer base still be bad? I have a heat gun I was thinking of using and tap and rattle it around. Of course I will do this test with flywheel off and timer base on bench.
It is just the replacement here doing the same thing as the old one on the same wire, I guess I will accept the fact that all new parts are not perfect. I need to retrieve the original one that was taken off and run bench test on it also.
To Almost Retired and Clanton I would like to thank you for taking time to answer these endless questions. It will be the coming weekend until
I can accomplish to much again. Will post a new one if anything changes. Thanks, Dewley

Try this 1989/95 4 cylinder looper, disconnect the white/black from temp sensor, if miss clears up the timer is usually bad, this came from AMTECH.

Re: Looking for Clanton 0r Almost Retired Again

Well this past week end started motor on hose before trip to lake and miss started immediately, Clanton, I pulled the black-white wire from temp unit, made no difference.
Before it would clear up after some time on the water but did not this time. Trailered it straight to the dealer. Maybe this time it will continue to miss with some regularity. Thanks everyone for the help. Will post when results come in.
