Looking for dock bumper advice

I have a small 18' bowrider at a dock in the Hudson River in upstate NY. There is a 4x4 post sticking up off of the dock close to the edge, and it's under 2' tall. I am looking for a bumper that will simply slide over the 4x4 post. The top of the post as well as the side of the post are issues when a jerk ignores the no wake zone. I can't seem to find the perfect bumper for my application. Anyone have any good advice? Thanks.

Slide a PVC pipe over it and drive it into the mud. This is how we do all of our bumpers on our docks on the Ohio River.

An inflatable dock wheel by Taylor Made might do the trick

Either of the 2 given ideas work, or you could use a piling post bumper. Over tons (eliminate the space, iboats won't let me post the name, lol) carries them I know;

Not sure how wide your slip (assuming it's a slip) is, but you could also consider "stand-offs" that hold the boat away from the dock and allow for waves and/or rising-falling tides if applicable.

Not real pretty, but an old rubber tire slipped down over the post with a nail in the top to hold it on would help....maybe a smaller tire off a golf cart or similar? Tug boats use lots of tires for bumpers!....That PVC pipe sounds like a good idea also!....

I was going to suggest an old car tire too. An old ATV tire may also work well. If you want it to look more slick, they do sell straight fenders. It kind of looks like a stretched piece of garden edging that is made to be nailed to the side of a dock. You could just mount it vertically on the 4x4 post.

For the jerk that ignores the no-wake zone, you might want to consider an automatic torpedo system...

Did I say that out loud?

if the post only sticks up 2' above the surface, it is a haznav. pull it out.
