Looking for help with 18hp Johnson

I'm looking into buying a 18hp kicker motor and would like to know what year this motor is.
To see if the parts are still available if and when I would need to fix it up and tune ups as well.

I think you will find that is FD, not FT. A FD-15 is a 1961. Normally needed service parts are available here at iboats. For stuff Iboats doesn't have, a complete parts list and availability is at http://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-parts.php -----OR, see your local Evinrude dealer.

FT-15 ??? are you sure.

FD-15 is 1961

You guys are great!
I guess I'll be picking it up along with a spare motor for parts.
The seller said that the compression on it was 115 and 118 psi.

That sounds pretty good right?
I will be bringing along my pressure gauge as well to double check the claim.

Do you think that an 18hp is a big enough kicker for a 21' boat?
