I am doing several projects on my 77 MFG Gypsy and one of them is creating a new way to mount several toggle switches. I have my new fuse panels ( automotive style) installed and the the bus for the ground so I don't need fuses. I am looking for idea's where someone fabricated someting out of say aluminum or stainleess to mount the toggle switches. These would be for interior lights, the bilge, an audio radio, and maybe another appliance. I have the switches for NAV and anchor lights and choke that I am saving from the original installation. I also have the water resistant boots to keep the toggles protected. I would like to keep them together but they don't have to be symetrical or in a pattern. But any idea's would be appreciated
thanks

I've always used plexi glass and paint the BACK. This way the paint won't scratch off.

You can cut it in any shape you'd like, and place switches gauges power outlets anywhere you'd like.

Look at your console, make a pattern, draw what "you" like. When satisfied with the layout, transfer the pattern to plexiglass, aluminum, stainless or even wood if you want the wood look.

Thanks Splat, I like the plexiglass idea I have worked with that before on some other home projects. I have the toggles & wire ordered and I just need to see some other panels to see what works best.
Thanks

I bought a toggle panel for my Jeep from www.12voltguy.com. I thought if I ever replace my panel I'd have him make a nice set for the boat.

Ummm... this is probably kind of a lowly solution, but it seems to be working for me. I replaced a plastic panel with one made out of thin plywood. I put two coats of white oil base enamel on it, followed by two coats of clear spray enamel.
