Looking for ideas on what to do with doghouse (for fishing!)

Hi all,

Just bought my first ever i/o boat (starcraft!). No photos yet, picking it up later this week. But this also means I'm going to have my first doghouse.... and fisherpeople with ideas on how to utilize that space, the flat surface on top of the doghouse?

I've seen people put bait cutting boards on there.... I was thinking about either tackle storage or maybe a cooler.... or rod storage?

Any other ideas? Would love to hear all your creative ideas for how to use this space!

I do a combo of freshwater and bay fishing. mostly just bait, and a little trolling. Zero fly fishing and no real lures, so no real need to cast a bunch.

Nothing to add but congratulations to the StarCraft owners club. You chose the best tin boat made. Maybe turn it into a dining room table to eat all the fish you catch with that StarCraft. A guy I know uses it to prep meals and to cook on with his little gas BBQ, when anchored or docked.

use the front of the doghouse to hold filet knives and hook removers. use the top to set your cooler full of beer on.

Whatever you do, just keep in mind that when you need to work on the engine, the doghouse comes off so don't overdo it. Those things are bulky enough to handle by yourself without too much extra weight.

I have a Lund Tyee with an I.O. From the factory Lund put a compartment on top of the dog house that fits a couple of those Frabil plastic divider containers for tackle. Can't put a ton of stuff in there but it's something.
Then on the front of the dog house the previous owner mounted a set of 6 rod holders which actually works out really well.

Plywood makes a great bait tray cut two of them so they fit the area make 1 1/2" edges silicone it up. I bleach mine and lay them outside when not in use there good for 5 years or more I can cut bait in one and put weights and snaps etc in the other for faster re loads when the need arises. Ive also got a rod holder mount on the front it swivels enough to work both sides or the middle with a 9' pole
