I just found a Johnson Sea Horse 30hp motor and am trying to find some info on it. It is a model number RDE-18, S/N 1355436. Could anyone tell me the year of this motor and if parts are readily available and where I could find them? Thanks

Re: Looking for Johnson 30hp year

Hi ,
Your engine is a 1956 model, in my opinion one of the best motors OMC ever built. A solid performer, with good parts availability. Many parts from several other model years of 25-35hp (1953-1958) motors will swap out. Routine maintenance parts such as coils, points, condensers, tank rebuild kits, lower unit seals, water pump impellers, etc. are readily available through several sources. I have quite a few odds and ends should you need anything out of routine.
- Scott

Thanks, Scott. I didn't realize the motor was quite that old, but nonetheless, it's still in really good condition, considering. I'm in the process of disassembling, so we'll see what all she needs as far as parts go!
