looking for my first boat

Hello guys ill be short on my first post . Im new to the boat scene as a owner i been on a few boats and i think its time for me to get my own . this site has a lot of info and ill thanks everyone here for that . I live in texas (houston area ) and was wondering what should i get to start with . What i have in mind its a small cash boat to get my hands on . So whats should i look for ?? any advise will be nice. the first things i got my eyes set on are small bowriders since i plan to take my girl kids out but i also like to go fishing so there you go , what do you guys think??????

wavenby thanks for the reply . i seen boats around here at driveways going for 1500 to 3k with trailer . thats my idea of something small but im wondering if this old boats will turn into a money pit .

no not at a lake . im in houston tx .I figure ill be boating off of galveston . i know that there are a few lake options for me but not sure yet ..

See if you can't take em out for sea trials and check them out real good, Yes they can cost if it turns out to be unmaintained, Buy a good boat by some one who actually cared for their boat and you'll be better off
