Well, you could try Sea Ray or Chaparral or Crownline. It is hard to compare boats in a similar price range and say what is "better". It is more about what is better for you.

Welcome to iBoats . . . we will help you spend your money wisely.

Sea Ray and Chaparral would be my first choices. Both are great boats, buy the biggest one that you can afford.

I would add

Four Winns
Monterey
Reinell

not in any specific order.

I just spent a month looking at boats and these brands, in addition to the ones mentioned, each had very good things to offer.

Philster (member here on iboats and at checkmate-boats.com) just purchased an New Checkmate BRX2400...it's an open bow with an 300 outboard...not sure of your boat usage but if you wanted a faster and sexy boat, that's where my $ would go....happy boat hunting...oh yeah, here's the link!

Re: looking for new 21to 25 foot bowrider help!

Of course, I love my Checkmate, but there is no way I could have chosen it without a pretty darn good list of what is important to me.

  • Lighter boat
  • Lots of go-fast ability
  • A lot of flash (sexy, in-gel graphics, colored hull)
  • Big, spacious bow and cockpit.
  • Customizing (interior, gauges, gel, motor brackets, etc)
  • Outboard power.
  • 70 MPH
  • 22+ degrees of deadrise (a real V hull)

Anyone looking for a boat would be wise to list out the 'musts'. What is a must for the OP? It narrows the choices!

I love Crownlines, too.

For your budget there are a number of boats out there. IMHO 21' is small and 60k would be outragious for a boat that size no matter who built it.

What do you plan on doing with your boat, how many people on average, what kind of water wil you be on? All of these factors need to be taken into consideration before recomendations can be made.

Re: looking for new 21to 25 foot bowrider help!

thank you everyone for your input it would manly be used on a semi large and populated lake i do want the sexy look of a boat that is why i have been drawn to the four winns 210ss if u haven't seen it check it out usually the is 4 to 6 people on the boat and we would use it for going up the river to some smaller less populated lakes that why were looking at 21 to 25 foot open bow must haves are

style (really like the interior on the fourwinns)
good cruising ability
good sound system
able to hand choppy waters
sleek (look really like the low profile windshield on the fourwinns)
good flowing interior layout (also like the way the fourwinns is layed out asl well as the crownline)
occasional wake boarding or tubing
easy to dock in tight marina

i think that those are my must haves

Op, is this going to be your first boat? If so, you may want to buy used first to get a better idea of how you will use it. You can get dock bumps and bruises out of the way too. I would hate for you to buy new and realize you want another 2' of boat.:D

You could look at the Monterey 244FS or 264FS both have what you are looking for. Bryant makes a real good boat that would fit your needs along with Searay or Cobalt.

I disagree with the guys who say buy used and small for your first, if you have the money get what you want! You'll be happier in the long run and will avoid the 2'itis a little longer. Just go as big as you can tow..

Re: looking for new 21to 25 foot bowrider help!

The new Four Winns H210 and 210SS has pitiful cockpit space compared to other boats same size. The sun pad is huge, which kills any room from the bench seat to the front buckets. It's also a new unproven design. Flashy, trendy, yes. Best bang for the buck, I would say no.
I went through this whole process this winter. Looked at all boat in the 19 to 23 foot range. The leaders were Monterey, Regal, Chaparral. Best amount of space, fit and finish and value for the dollar was Monterey. Without question.
We bought a 2011 Monterey 204 FS, and are glad we did.
By the way, the sound system in the Four Winns is crap. The gunwale speakers have only 2-1/2" of depth, and sound like junk. It's also Sony speakers in the boat, and they are marginal at best. With Monterey and Regal you get the latest iPod compatible Fusion stereo and speakers in the 2012 models. Much more powere and far better sound. No transom speakers, but that was not important to me.

In my opinion you could get a very nice, large boat for alot less money if you would consider a used boat. Spend 25-30k on a good used boat and save the rest to play with. A much better investment in the long run.

Just so it's clear, you are talking about the latest H210 SS from Four Winns correct? The newer "squarer" hull design?

http://www.fourwinns.com/model/H210SS-MT

This boat has an "L" shaped bench that wraps all the way around the Port and aft of the cockpit. The co captain chair has a flip-flop back rest so it can be rear facing lounger or a forward facing seat.

Seems like it's been updated.

The Four Winns will definitely meet that requirement. What engine is in the boat you are looking at?

I will say that those suggesting Monterey are right. They are great boats and there in no reason to not consider one if you have a local dealer.

The thing about the new Four Winns hull design, the entire swim platform is outside the hull. So when you compare it to the Monterey 204 FS while the overall length of the Four Winns is 4" shorter, it actually has more cockpit space, sun pad space and basically the same swim platform space. The other really nice thing about the Four Winns is the entire swim platform is just inches above the water while at rest. That platform is also the full beam width.

I assume you have also at least looked at the specs of the Four Winns SL 222. If I were in the market for a new bowrider in 21-25 ft range I would really take a close look a the SL boats from Four Winns. It may be just me, but I think they look great. I don't think they offer with the short, tinted windsield though. Last year they did have a couple really neat graphics packages though.
