Looking for prop recommendation

My current prop is a 19 pitch cupped aluminum prop. I get 6050 rpms and 51 mph at full throttle with optimum trim. My rpm limit is 5750 (1990 Evenrude 175). My boat is an 18'6" Glastron bowrider that I use for skiing and cruising. I would like to find a prop that will keep me in my rpm range, maintain my excellent hole shot, and maybe give me a few more mph. I'm thinking that I want a 21 pitch stainless steel three bladed prop, but there are so many different brands and styles to try. I would appreciate recommendations from those who have had good or bad experiences when shopping for props.

Not an expert but obviously you need to get back into the proper rpm range.
It will be difficult to go up in pitch and retain your hole shot.
An interesting thought is the torque shift prop
www.land-and-sea.com/marine/torque-shift/torque-
shift. amazing performance but very pricey.
And I dont know about reliability.
As I understand it the prop shops usually have loaners to try so you can get the right one.

I use the Turningpoint brand Prop and am very pleased with them. I would recommend them to anyone.

I will tell you one thing, I watched that video, and that is one awesome prop, but very pricey.

Thanks,
Bryan

Yep, them torque-shift props by Land & Sea are definately a bit pricey. I figured it would work for me, because I've been having difficulty finding the right props to fit all of the various altitude lakes I play on...

SO... now that I have one of these gems for my 23 ft Mako CC, I could not get it to even go up on plane, so I called the tech line at Land & Sea, only to discover that they did not design it for my application, and that it will not work, unless you are able to pull at least 45 mph, with a 19 pitch prop.

Appears like it just may work on your boat... I apparently simply do not have the power to make it work on mine...

Let me know if you're interested in one...

Good Luck... Obiwan

DKrum
I had good luck with both my OMC Stainless Steel props. I also would go with a 21 inch double cuppped Stainless. You will loose a little hole shot and gain speed and fuel mileage. With the speed you have now I think you will still have a good hole shot.

I'd turn the engine 6050 rpm and not worry about it. I have a '76 200hp 'rude that gets a steady diet of 6000 rpm. It love's it.

c/6

Hooty
