I have a generator from the 70's that is not currently running. I'm going to pull the generator from the boat to possibly repair, but not really planning on returning it because of the space it is going to provide. I generated this topic to get some ideas because there is a seawater inlet to cool the generator. What other items could use the seawater inlet? (Example: A/C unit)

Well,..... without a generator you won’t be using an AC when not plugged into shore power, or have the main engines running.

agreed with Ned. no need for AC unless you have the genny. I would get a new genny and install in its place. you should be able to save enough room to then add AC

I installed a complete marine A/C unit from scratch in my boat and I don't have a genny. When I'm on the hook, I don't need it because air flow through the boat cools things fine. When I'm docked I can't point the boat into the wind. With the sun beating down the cabin gets danged hot. THAT'S when I need the A/C. The OP's situation may be different, but A/C can be a good addition, with or without a generator.
