I need some suggestions for adding some electronics to my helm. I've attached a picture. Since the picture was taken, I moved the fish finder mount to the right of it's current location. And, I've added a Garmin GPS to the left. Both are on top of the instrument panel on their gimble mounts. Now, I'm going to be adding a fixed mount VHF radio. And, I'm afraid all this stuff sticking up in front of the helm is going to be both trashy looking and restrict my view over the bow of the boat.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a low profile, tidy pod, (DIY or store bought), that can be mounted on top of the dash, that all 3 pieces of electronic gear can be hard mounted in?
Thanks!

Do you have specific sizes of all three items? Reason I am asking is if you are good with fiberglassing then build yourself a box and glass it to your console.

Good idea! I could Use a "lost foam" technique that I used to build model airplane parts back in my R/C modeling days. It would be a much bigger project, but would certainly work. Thanks for jogging my memory!

Back when I did custom gauge boxes for cars. I took foam(that did not melt under resin) and did three sides in fiberglass then just cut out the foam or use wax paper between the resin and foam. The just did what I wanted to it. But I also drew it out on paper then taped it up to the new console and put it where I was going to mount and judged it.

Yep, exactly what I was talking about. We used to carve/sand the foam to the shape we wanted, cover it with saran wrap and build up layers of EPOXY resin & cloth. When done, we would pop the foam out & prep it for paint. It was on a much smaller scale with much lighter weight material. But, no reason I couldn't make it work for this, too.

Theirs alot of wood on your rigg, maybe just use some redwood sealed with cobat. Alot easier than glassing a mould and would look good with the teak.
