Guys,

Ive searched every trailer and hardware store in town and cant find what im looking for. If you know where I can find these items please let me know.

I'm looking to replace the leaf springs on my trailer. They appear to be 26" 2 leaf hook style, also called "C". one end has an eye and one end is shaped like a C. Load rating is about 700#'s per spring.

Im also needing a type of U-bolt, or square bolt, except its not U or square shaped. Its more triangular. Made to bold bunk brackets to angle iron. Any leads will be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Try Northern Tool. They carry alot of trailer parts including leaf springs and U-bolts. Axles too.

the easternmarine website proved to be very helpful. It didnt list an exact match, but maybe I can achieve my weight rating by removing a leaf. Thank ya'll so much for taking your time to help a fellow boater out. Jeep Man, im in Beaumont TX. Thank ya'll again

Maybe I am reading your answer wrong...but why would you want to remove a leaf from a spring?

This will lower the weight carrying capacity of that spring...usually the opposite of what you want.

If the spring, as shipped, exceeds the weight of your setup...that is to the good. And as the spring ages, it's true capacity is reduced. A little 'overkill' is to your benefit!

Re: Looking for Trailer Hardware

You can remove a leaf to lessen the spring capacity and soften the ride but the problem is you have no idea how much removing one leaf will reduce the capacity. Those springs are most likely rated as an assembly. I have removed the shortest leaf before to soften a trailer for a smaller or lighter boat, but it's trial and error.
From experience, just removing one lower short leaf will reduce the rate by only a slight amount. I removed on leaf from my one Load rite trailer, which had two 1,000 lb springs, the difference was minimal, but it was softer. I think the change was more noticeable when nearing the fully loaded point. I could have removed two leaves and still had sufficient carrying capacity and spring rate but I was concerned about longevity running only two leaves.

I left it with three leaves and it's fine, a bit stiffer than need be, but it will work fine. I'd rather have springs that are a bit heavier than needed than be overloaded.

Your right answer may be to go to a local spring shop and let them build you a set of springs to suit you needs?

If you remove a leaf, you will most likely need a shorter spring center bolt.

Now it's time for the last resort. If you can't find it, any spring shop can make it. They mostly work on big trucks and trailers, but will work on all sizes. I have a few shops as clients and one made up a set of springs for my Jeep. Most, if not all spring shops are equipped to handle anything to do with any suspension.
