Looking to buy new engine, new controls, new gauges. etc.

I went to a local marine shop and got a price for a brand-new 2011 Mercury 30 H.P. w/ power tilt. In addition, I'm going to rip out my existing steering cable, old gauges, gas tank, etc and go with everything brand new. The price I was quoted including labor came out to $7,000.00. Is this expensive or just what it costs??? 15 foot boat...

I checked on the internet and found a new 2010 4 stroke 30 hp Merc @ $4099. The tiller version was $4499. The dealer sends motors out by common carrier. Freight, setup, controls and a prop will certainly not cost you $3901.

PM me if you would like to know the dealer's name. He's a big bulk buyer of out of business dealership inventories.

I'd save yourself the 3000 on labor.. Most of that sounds liek stuff you can do with the help of iboats

Are you sure Mercury is what your boat wants ?...For gauges look at VDO,Faria,Teleflex...
