I'm looking at a 05 crown line 240 ex. With a 5 liter Volvo penta. With less than 180 hours clean. I think I can purchase the boat for 28,000. My first question is does this boat and drive train have a good reputation and second is that a fair price for this boat? I'm a first time buyer.

Re: Looking to buy

the boat and drive train quality is second to none, the drive train is still supported by the manufacturer, but the hull (Crownline) has changed hands and so if you need parts they could be a little tough to come by in the future, I have not experienced any problems getting parts for my 2000 248 BR as of yet so I'm just speculating.

The price thing is relative, personally I think you can do better, if your 240 had a big block I would think your right there on price depending on the overall condition of the hull and interior, but I'm also a big motor guy, your 240 is a big boat and the 5.0 is going to have fun pushing that size boat but if you are willing to sacrifice the added power for better fuel economy and have no need for the power of a big block well that's where price becomes relative, I paid just about $28,000 for my 248 a couple years ago with 260 hours on it in mint condition 5 years older then yours, for me it was the boat, if you have the same feelings then go get your boat and feel good about it, I wouldn't blink an eye at that boat at that price if it was the right one for me, Crownlines are fine boats I wouldn't own another type of boat, if you do purchase it let me know and I can tell you where us Crownies hang out, we have a Manufacturer Rally and another website rally each year, like any brand loyal following were a pretty tight nit set of boaters.

Post up some pics if you get the chance!!
