I own a 1981 Cruisers express cruiser. It has operating skylights on each side of front deck. They were originally manufacutred by Young Windows and employ a rubber gasket as a seal between the glass and aluminum fame.

A friend who is also a resedential window manufacurer recommended reglazing the skylights using butyl tape.

I may have to remove the whole unit entirely just to dismatnle the skylight itself. If I have to go this route, what sealant do I use to mount the stationary part of the skylight to the deck to prevent water from migrating into the deck core?

3M 5200 or 3M 4200.Using the 5200,you will never have to remove it again.Best place to buy it is at one of the home centers(Home Depot).
