Hi everyone. I have recently aquired an 85 Bluefin Sportsman 16'. It has a 76 55 HP Evinrude on it, this site says it's rated to 120 HP, but the coastguard tag states 90 HP. I figure I will go with the coastguard tags recomandation. So I guess my thread is this. If you were looking for a 90 HP engine what would you get. The engine on it now is manual tilt and trim, so I don't know if I would care if the new one did or not. I am guessing that a 90 HP will be a bit heavier than a 50, so would you go with electronic trim controls? I am not a rich man, and will probally run the 55 for the season, and shop in the winter, but I don't want junk. I know 4 strokes are nice, but the price seems just as nice.. I want to buy as new as I can afford, so I am looking for advise or hot deals. Thanks in advance for any input.

Stay away from any Force motors and you should be OK. Condition of the motor will be the major factor, don't buy a piece of junk that hasn't been taken care of and most 90s will be fine.

Any of the 3 cylinder 70-90HP motors would be ideal for your boat and weigh less than a 4 cyl. A 90HP Yamaha triple would be particularly sweet.

I guess now the only task would be locating and purchasing a yamaha. Haven't seen any for sale at all
