My boat is powere by a 7.4 liter Mercruiser with a TRS drive. I recently discovered water in my transmission which originated on the outboard side and not the transmission oil cooler. The marine mechanic is suggesting that the drive has been worked on at one time and was not reassembled correctly --- a gimbal bearing was installed where the drive did not originally have one. He is also baffled by a spring that is attached to the shaft on the transmission side of the assembly. I've been waiting for a few weeks now for the thing to be repaired and I'm being told that some of the original parts are no longer available. I'd sure appreciate any help I could get on this.<br /><br />Jonmac
