My local boat shop told me that the 70 HP engine will likely never idle all that smoothly. He said it was because of the fact that it was Loop Charged?? What does that mean?

Searun1

Re: Loop Charged

Hi Searun,
There's always going to be a minimum amount of vibration from your triple, but they can idle fairly smoothly. If yours is idling roughly there may be some adjustment needed somewhere. All carbs must be linked/synched so that all the cylinders are getting the right timing and right fuel at the same time. If one is off from the others it will lead to rougher running... Of the older loopers, the triples actually idle the best (IMO) as the 2-cylinders tend to "wobble" a bit, and the 1980s V4 loopers were called "bloopers" by the techs at the marina that I worked at in those days....
- Scott
