Posting to maybe help someone else with this...
there was a couple mentions in hereof this fix but not alot really.
i have a 1993 looper 140. It has the thermostats with a bunch of parts...diaphram, cup, spring, vernatherm etc. NOT the shrouded plastic stat setup.
Always had a hard time getting idle temps above 90-100 or so. While adjusting each carburetors front air bleed does have some effect it's marginal.
my fix was to elongate the springs just behind the thermostat cover by stretching them out maybe a quarter inch.
as soon as I did that and testing temperatures went immediately to 140 to 150, and stayed there solid, perfect.
hope it can help someone with the same.
