After my repair of my one 35HP evinrude 1984 I rushed to test it in the water, and had many a good day with is since. It ran really good. Last trip it suddenly changed sound, i thought it was about to throw a rod. I limped back to harbor, only to discover the bolts holding powerhead to leg all was loose and exhaust was escaping in leg and exiting around buttom of powerhead and holes at front/lower leg. Will it be ok to use locktite and turque all bolts again, or do I have to take powerhead off and clean some place ?

G DANE,

I would remove it, replace the gasket and then reinstall the bolts and re-torque.
