Re: loose prop

Rocky, if it was me I would make sure I had the right spacer in there, as some of the time different props use different spacers.

Re: loose prop

When you say spacer are you refering to the thrust washer behind the prop? there should be both the thrust washer and also a washer under the prop nut, sounds like your missing something I don't think that prop should move.

Re: loose prop

A70, when he said spacer I assume he meant thrust washer, I didn't want to confuse the issue.

Re: loose prop

yes the thrust washer and the one behind the prop nut are in place, could this have started when i fist took the prop off and put it back on without the thrust washer and it wore down my prop before i remebered why it was making a weird noise, like metal on metal .

Re: loose prop

How long did you run it without the thrust washer in it. A 1/4" is a bunch of metal to eat away. When you look behind the thrust washer does it look like there is a worn away area where the prop was pushing against the lower gear box.

Re: loose prop

ran it about 2 hrs total in 3 tripps to river. its not a stainless steel prop so the gear box should not be damaged should it ? only the prop should be worn down right ? and if so should i replace it and that should solve my problem ? i hope . thanks
