Hi all, being new to boating and of course marine repair, I thought I would throw this out to see if i could get going on this referb.
What size/type rivits does Starcraft use in the hulls? The boat is a 1970 V18 Offshore OB. I am looking at Grainger supply. Also any recomendations on replacing the rivits would be helpful.
Thanks!

Re: Loose rivits

Welcome Lt!

Got pics of that Offshore??? :hungry:

On my '75 SS, the majority of Hull skin rivets are 5/32" Brazier head rivets (aka low-profile, wide-dome).

There are many ways to remove them. Some grind-off the bucktails and punch the heads-out. I started by drilling them out however lately I've been drilling a small pilot hole just to thin the stem then take a wood chisel to pop-off the heads. Once the head is off, punch-out the bucktail.

Replace solid rivets with solid rivets.

Yah, I think the OP is referring to the solid (universal) type. I too would like to know the the OEM size please if anyone knows.

But to the OP, there are some concerns regarding "loose" rivets. Corrosion may have been permitted to take hold, so when the loose rivet is removed, might be better to drill-out fresh and go for the next size up.
