"Sailing down the placid Thames last year as part of the celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar, the actor playing Lord Nelson was required to accessorize his vintage admiral's outfit with a contemporary life preserver, which tended to spoil the effect."

Yeah, when I looked into it further, I found that in order not offend anyone, the reenacted Battle of Trafalgar was done between a "red" team and a "blue" team rather than between England and France and Spain.

How lame!

I guess nobody has to have personal responsibility for one's own actions anymore, anywhere. The governments will take care of and baby sit us all.
Such caring polititions is how people lose their freedom. Nobody needs to think on their own. The government will do it for you.

Oh yeah. This struck a chord big time across here. Red against blue??? We fought the stinkin' Frenchies and kicked their butts big style and the greasy dago's before that!

I have a real issue with the way health and safety is going these days: yes it's good to protect people but it's gone too far and now a lot of workers have gotten wise to the fact that they can get out of working if they think the work is unsafe........................we had one guy in my last job who was called "The Handbrake" because he stopped every job he worked on due to "health and safety issues".

I just wonder how much safety equipment Nelson would have needed to protect him? Safety goggles, full body ballistic armour, including arm protection? Probably would have been better if he'd stayed at home? No, strike that, we'd all be munching garlic and talking funny like they do in fancy restaraunts d:)

Every person working for the government survives by creating self importance.

Pretty soon, we will all just have to stay locked up in a padded room.
