Lose engine power and throttle when in water

Hello again,

I seem to lose power while in the water. When I run the boat while its out of the water I can throttle to very high rpm's, but when the boat is in the water, it seems to bog down and throttle only halfway. Can't get it to plane at all....

Anybody heard of this before?

Being able to rev an engine with no load really means nothing - and is a bad idea with the engine on muffs - out of the water.

There are many causes for an engine failing to reach rpms - I believe Don S has posted a sticky in the DIY section at the top of the page. You might want to read that. Good luck!

I am wondering if it has anything to do with me replacing the impeller a couple of days ago....the installatin went fine, pumps water strong....but before I changed the impeller I had no problems with the throttle..maybe a did something to the linkage. I will check out the post you type of.
