Had my first towing problem this weekend.

on hwy 370
Driving home from local ramp to have water patrol do a VIN verification with my out of state trailer...

On the way home, 65mph in the center lane and my right Tire blows and completely shreds. (single axle trailer) Maybe 2,500 lbs total..MAYBE

Luckily the road was empty as it the large bypass highway in st. louis.

Just got the boat, hadn't gotten a spare yet. No Jack or Spare in the Van that I am towing with either.

Drive Home, get tools, drive back, get tire, go to NTB, $42 and 4 hours later I finally get home.

No damage, used the same rim. I was very happy with the way the van handled, didn't even sway, just hit the brakes and pulled over.

'71 1ton Chevy Van

Glad the boat was still there when you got back.
A buddy had the same thing happen to him and when he got back to the boat, his kicker motor was gone and all his fishing stuff he left in the boat. Damn thieves. But then again, he shouldn't have left that stuff in the boat, right.

Re: Lost a tire this weekend on the Highway

That's why I spent the $42 to get the new tire.

A friend owns a repair shop, could have gotten a used tire for free, if it wasn't the weekend. But I couldn't wait until monday and have that thing sitting on the side of the road.

Was a 4-lug and couldn't find anyone in the family that had a spare 4lug.

If I were down IN st. louis, I would have taken EVERYTHING out of the boat that wasn't nailed down, but being that I basically broke down in farm country, I just left it and hurried back.
