Long story, but I lost my prop to the bottom of the lake. I have a 1978 Evinrude 115hp on an 18 foot Crestliner. I'm new to boating and I'm not sure what was on there.

Can anyone suggest a prop size and pitch for my new prop? I want to be able to waterski with this boat. Also, I know I've lost the cotter pin, castle nut, washer and prop, but is there anything else that I would have lost?

The thrust washer may have come off too...it's in front of the prop.
13-1/4X17, or 14X17 in aluminum should be close to putting you at 5700 or so-good ski prop with decent top-end.
And......Welcome aboard! :)

Thanks, MYTJC.

I'm going to look for a manual. I'm not sure if a generic manual would be as good as a shop manual for my specific motor. Any insight?

Re: Lost my prop.

I've been looking into getting a new prop. I've found in the prop finder here a Hustler High-Performance Aluminum Prop Housing 13-1/4 Dia. 17 Pitch with the Master Guard Hub kit. Just wanted to know what you think of this style prop. Are they as good as a regular "solid 1 piece" design or are they better?

I can't say better or not...if you ruin a housing, a new one costs as much as a repair job on a standard prop.
The Hustler prop IS a decent alum prop. I think it would be fine.

Re: Lost my prop.

FCards,
The fella's here suggest OEM manual. I have 1 Seloc and 1 Clymers and they have great information for DIY....then if you get stuck you can always come here for further advice. These guys are great and i love this forum. The information you get is "priceless".
