Lost my Son

[SS MAYFLOAT]

Several weeks ago I found out my oldest son was killed in a auto accident by a drunk driver. The drunk went around a curve in the wrong lane and hit my son head on. The car had a after market air bag that did not deploy. :facepalm:
Ex wife got the message and did not pass the news onto me. The accident happened on my birthday in July. A parent should not live longer than their off spring. He and I wasn't real close as we lived miles apart, but we did call each other frequently. I wondered why he hadn't called and his phone was shut off. Was in a state of depression for awhile, but able to talk about it now. The guy that hit him is facing involunentary manslaughter charges. I hope he goes away for a long long time. Hope all the shipmates here is doing fine........SS

my condolences too SS MAYFLOAT. i'm saddened to read the loss of your son. may he RIP.

man, that would rip me apart as my only child, my boy, lives close to me and we see each other often. hard to believe your x didn't let you know. while i have much distaste for my x (and her of me too i would guess), i would at the very least let her know of such a travesty. that was very uncaring and uncalled for of her.

Since my daughter just turned 16 and now has her license, I too wonder at times how I would react, cope if she was in a life taking accident. I can only imagine how you feel. May you look to God to help heal your scars......... Prayers sent.....

So sorry for your loss Admiral. No parent should ever have to loose a child, especially to something so senseless. The timing sounds particularly ironic too. The ex had no right to keep that information from you either, regardless of what y'all may have been through. I know there's really nothing any of us can do, or say, but we're here if you want laugh, cry, rant, rave or reminisce. Our thoughts our with you.

So sorry for your loss. Our closest relative has lost all three of their kids in separate tragic incidences. All three of my wife's first cousins with the third and final perishing in a car accident this past August. I can empathise and we feel almost cursed at this point.

It wasn't Carl, he is my youngest. This was my son David the oldest 36 years old. He was from my first marriage. Carl lives close enough that I can put a knot in his tail if it needs it.
