Lost some balance on my boat

I had to replace the outboard on my boat. I had a 140 hp 4cylinder, I replaced it with a Mercury 140 6 cylinder. The Merc is heavier and I seem to have lost some of the balance. Boat does not plane out as quick, and seems to want to porpus at 3/4 or more throttle with a full fuel load. After the fuel is a 1/2 tank everything is fine. Would one of the bolt on Sting Ray hydrofoils help this? Or if I added about 50 pounds on the front of the boat, What would that do? The boat does have power trim. Everything is fine when the motor is down, it is when it is trimmed up at a fast crusing that the balance seems off. Thanks for any help.

I'd locate some extra weight up front before you try the fin. Should do the trick....HAve a passenger ride along in the front and see how she does...

Trim tabs will increase the overall performance of the boat; as well as aid in your problems.

Power trim will naturally operate best in a different position than before.Boat may not operate correctly at full trim. You may need to raise the motor vertically a little.I've had good luck with doelfins but you should consider them as a last resort.Smart tabs are a much better choice. But first work to get trim and weight distribution at the best possible set up.<br />May be as simple as moving the battery forward a few feet.
